Biscuiterie Fine de France was born in 1989, when Jean-Marie and Chantal Robert took over Biscuiterie de Bord in Cahors, in the heart of a beautiful region of France. Our products are proudly certified Made in Lot — yes, indeed! Meringues… yum! It all began with delicious traditional meringues, which first put Biscuiterie Fine de France on the map and helped build its reputation.

A family-run artisan business that has been combining passion, expertise, creativity and innovation for many years. A passion for crafting delicious biscuits with authentic flavours that bring back fond childhood memories. Expertise that continues to grow and evolve, allowing us to create ever more indulgent treats for you to enjoy. In French confectionery, the Rose des Sables takes its name from the natural mineral formations found in deserts, known as “desert roses”. These remarkable formations are created when sand and gypsum crystals bind together under the effects of moisture and wind.
The Rose des Sables treat itself is a typically French creation, dating back to the 1950s. It became popular during this period, closely linked to the arrival of breakfast cereals in French households.
Although breakfast cereals had appeared much earlier elsewhere, it was in France that this delicious treat won people's hearts and became a much-loved symbol of childhood afternoon snacks.
Today, for many of us, the Rose des Sables still brings back fond memories of simple, joyful moments spent baking together as a family. Although it is known in a few European countries, it has yet to make its way across the oceans, remaining a precious culinary treasure that is truly French at heart.

Meringue has deep roots in European culinary traditions. Although several countries claim its creation, it is generally believed that meringue as we know it today originated in Switzerland in the 17th century before being perfected in France.
This light and airy delicacy was born from the combination of gentle baking techniques and the expertise of master confectioners. Meringue soon became one of the staples of French pâtisserie, inspiring countless creations, from Pavlova to iconic desserts such as Vacherin. With its delicate, crisp texture and irresistible sweetness, meringue is a delightful treat all on its own.
Today, meringue has become much more than a simple element of pâtisserie. It embodies a French savoir-faire that has been passed down through generations, bringing a touch of sweetness to every indulgent moment. Constantly revisited and reinvented, meringue continues to delight the palate, beautifully combining tradition and innovation.
